Four-Time Perth Winner Returns
The Perth winner comes back to one of his favourite racecourses on Thursday as he bids to add another success in the £12,000 feature, the Secure Air Parks Edinburgh Airport Parking Handicap Chase.
Trained by Lisa Harrison in Cumbria and partnered once again by Danny McMenamin, the consistent gelding takes on five rivals over two miles and four furlongs, looking to continue an impressive record at Scone.
Wasdell Dundalk has become a familiar and popular performer at Perth, where his liking for the track has seen him record four victories since joining Harrison's yard. His latest visit offers another opportunity to enhance that record against a competitive field.
Harrison said: "He's been a fantastic horse for us and a really easy horse to train. We take him to the beach occasionally as part of his training and he is a lovely character.
"Perth has been a lucky track for him since he came to us, but he has also won at Carlisle. It's a shame the race isn't over three miles, but at least Danny knows him well as they've won five times together."
The feature race has attracted several strong challengers. Gordon Elliott saddles Gunnery Sergeant, who makes just his third start over fences and competes from a handicap mark for the first time under reigning champion jockey Sean Bowen.
Also lining up is the ever-consistent Garde Des Champs, trained by Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore. The gelding has an excellent record at Perth, having finished fourth in last year's renewal after placing third in 2024, and will be looking to go even closer this time.
The opening Horizon Group Maiden Hurdle also promises plenty of interest, with three champion jockeys taking centre stage. Current champion Sean Bowen, three-time champion Brian Hughes, and former champion Harry Cobden are all in action aboard Starshine Legend, Try Them, and Liberty Coach respectively, giving racegoers an early opportunity to see some of Britain's top riders in action.
There is also a familiar face in the PWA Architecture Handicap Hurdle, where Top Flight Century attempts to repeat last year's success. The gelding, now trained by David Thompson in Darlington, is once again partnered by the trainer's son Josh Thompson, who steered the horse to victory in the corresponding race twelve months ago when he was trained by Adam Nicol.
Thursday's seven-race card offers a competitive afternoon of National Hunt racing, with the feature handicap chase providing one of the highlights as Wasdell Dundalk seeks to continue his remarkable love affair with Perth Racecourse.
