Spanning Picnic and Grandstand Enclosure, the Family Raceday fixture promises to be a vibrant summer atmosphere with six heart-pounding races throughout the afternoon.
Gates open at 11:30 am, the first race gallops off at 1:58 pm, and the feature £15,000 three-mile The Sport, Education & Wellbeing Handicap Steeple Chase Handicap Chase headlines the card at 3:43pm.
Laura Morgan’s unbeaten course specialist Whistleinthedark, partnered by jockey Harry Reed, bids for a third Perth victory after winning at Ladies Day in May, and at last year’s Perth Festival.
Laura commented, “He’s been to Perth twice before and won both times - over course and distance in May and over 2m 4f at the Perth festival last year,” Morgan said.
“We love bringing horses up and it’s been a lucky place for us - we’ve had four winners from eight runners this season already. They really look after you, the prize money is excellent, and they always do a good job with the track.”
Matthew Taylor, Director of Racing commented, “Family Day is the eighth fixture this year so we’re now over halfway through the season. It’s been a cracker so far with crowd numbers up across the board, and consistently high standards of runners and trainers supporting us here at Perth.
“And it will be more of the same this Sunday, when racegoers can look forward to a deep field of great runners. Wasdell Dundalk, trained by Lisa Harrison, returns hoping to improve on last year’s near-miss, while Breizh River, and Saint Arvans, with proven form at Perth, add further excitement.”
Beyond the action on the track, families will enjoy giant games, bouncy horses and a feel-good atmosphere between races. Joined by Saints in the Community, the chosen charity partner for the day, the event will also feature street soccer, Quickfeet Reaction Games and Sphero Robots for big kids and little kids alike.
Rebekah Penman, Business Development Manager for Saints in the Community commented, “We’re incredibly proud to be part of this fantastic event and look forward to sharing the positive impact of our programmes with families and racegoers throughout the day.
“This partnership provides a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the work we do across Perth and Kinross, from our recreational football programme for children and young people, to our support for people with neurodiverse conditions, themed education work in schools, and community projects that reduce isolation, improve mental health and promote inclusion.
“On the day, Saints in the Community staff will be there providing fun activities, games for all the family and plenty of information regarding our ongoing projects and how your support helps us make a real difference within Perth and Kinross.”
